The Wayne Hoskins Band has spent the last two years focused on writing and recording their music. Now, the spring of 2010 brings the long awaited self titled EP release. Formed in 2008 Dustin, Dave, Mike, Carl, and Eric combined to create music described as “edgy, driving and elegant.” Their music is not for the fainthearted, the band’s ability to create a self indulgent apathy, in songs like "Something Better" and shift swiftly to the passionate apologetic “April” isn’t the only reason fans have clinged to The Wayne. Dustin’s grainy vocals and lyrics give listeners a window into themselves and shed light on his own internal demons and delights. Conceptually simple the greatest element of The Wayne’s efforts is the chemistry of these musicians - Carl’s droning bass lines, matched with Eric’s explosive drums lay the foundation for Mike’s inspiring organ and string pads, while Dave lays both harmonic vocals and threatening guitars all matched to Dustin’s throaty breathless vocals.
The Wayne’s resume include a number of venues around the West and include gigs at Sundance Film Festival and two invitations to the exclusive Acoustic All Stars Festival in Park City, UT. In no simple form can The Wayne Hoskins Band be described. Influenced by The Frames, Justin Currie, and Todd Thibaud they fall into a cross genre; compared to The Fray, Lifehouse, and Daughtry the best way to describe The Wayne might simply be – classically good. The Wayne was recently approached by a team of producers to begin their next project -, a full studio album, set to release late 2010. |
